These festivities gave an opportunity to remember, reflect and rejoice this occasion. Juneteenth is recognized as the Emancipation day or Freedom day. This is celebrated in the honor of the African American heritage as an American holiday and is eminent among all racial and ethnic backgrounds.

This is a commemoration of the slavery abolition in the United States. This is celebrated on June 19 and is a state holiday for almost 31 United States. The Texas state was the first to originate with a holiday and was the main home for the Juneteenth celebrations.

This is an official holiday, but a partial holiday so that some employees take a day off and few others use floating holiday. The other states that are listed as official holiday comprise of New York, Arkansas, Connecticut, Massachusetts, California and Alaska.

However, Connecticut denies considering it as an alternative for Independence Day and does not observe it as an occasion or a legal holiday. The Columbia districts observe this as a state holiday. Juneteenth is celebrated as a proclamation declaring all slaves are free. This is passed from one generation to another. This liberty has an impact on the slaves lives and this is been commemorated in the festive form of Juneteenth.

The blacks acquired this freedom after many centuries and are able to live on their own. Hence this day June 19th is a very significant and special day of celebration. This is viewed as a thanks giving day as both men and women are freed from the clutches of slavery. This is celebrated by sending flowers on Juneteenth as a mark of their happiness.
